Maintaining the experience

The Lighthouse is lovingly cared for by volunteers and community groups who each year donate many 100s of hours to maintaining this New Zealand icon. Among our enthusiastic community groups that have assisted in the establishment of the Lighthouse and the surrounds are Awhitu Landcare Group, Awhitu Beachcare, Waiuku College and Awhitu School. The Lighthouse Trust is also supported by Auckland Council through community grants.
